Sendak, M.
(1963). Where the wild things are. New York: HarperCollins.
Max is a little boy who loves to make mischief. One night he is sent to his room without his supper, and he takes a voyage to where the wild things live. He becomes king of the wild things and celebrates with a wild rumpus. He soon returns home to his bed and has a hot meal waiting for him.
The classic children’s picture book has been a staple for over 50 years. The colorful watercolor pictures of Max and the Wild Things have not lost their appeal over time. The Wild Things are still seen as scary. It is a marvelous book to explore children’s imaginations and creativity. The theme of Max making a mistake, receiving his reprimand and still finding love at home resonates with children.
